The Metropolitan District Police are committed to protecting and safeguarding MDC’s infrastructure, watershed areas, employees and patrons through impartial and courteous law enforcement with integrity and professionalism. We shall ensure public safety and provide quality law enforcement service throughout the District.

The MDC Police consists of a Chief of Police, a certified Police Officer, Conservation Rangers and Public Safety Officers (PSOs). Our officers are uniformed and operate marked patrol vehicles.

The job of MDC Police is to work with MDC watershed management to ensure the integrity of our watershed boundaries and enforce MDC water supply ordinances. Patrol officers routinely patrol dam facilities, water delivery systems and our forest lands. assist and work with other agencies and manage the controlled deer hunt in the fall.

It all boils down to high quality drinking water. MDC owns 31,000 acres of watershed land. A watershed is an area of land that drains all the streams and rainfall to a common place such as a reservoir and MDC owns 9 reservoirs. The watershed lands act as natural filtration systems. As water percolates through the soil and vegetation, it gets cleansed of sediments and pollutants. If our watershed is clean, so is our water.
