The MDC’s online interactive map includes an inventory of over 100,000 drinking water service lines within the MDC’s distribution system. A water service line is the pipe that conveys water from the water main in the street into a property. The map is provided as a service to customers and in compliance with the EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule Revision. The map will continue to be updated as service line materials are identified. HOW TO SEARCH FOR YOUR PROPERTY
Customers can use the map to search for their address and learn more about the service line material at their property. Zoom into your property directly on the map or enter your address into the search bar. Type your street number and name and the address should appear directly below to choose from. For assistance navigating the Water Service Line Inventory map, please see the “Need Help?” box located on the upper right of the Inventory map page, or download PDF document below.

SERVICE LINE MATERIAL TYPES
The service line materials are marked on the inventory map with colored stars.
1. Non-Lead. (Green)
Pipe material meets EPA regulations. No further action required.
2. Unknown (Orange)
An inspection is needed to identify the material of the service line. The unknown may be on the Customer side, the MDC (Utility) side or both. Note: the vast majority are on the Customer side.
3. Lead (Red)
Pipe requires replacement (There are currently NO service lines identified as lead as of October 16, 2024)
4. Galvanized Requiring Replacement: (Yellow)
The service line is made of galvanized steel and may require replacement. Similar to an unknown, it needs to be inspected by MDC to confirm.
